Sustainability

We care

Sustainability

Sustainability is not an extra but an integral part of our self-image. As a family-run company with regional roots we assume responsibility – for people, the environment and future generations.
This stance is reflected in every step of our value chain: from the selection of materials to production and through to distribution.

Operating sustainably drives us

Driven by a team of 480 employees, MAC pursues its goal to produce desirable, perfectly fitting trousers of high quality under sustainable conditions on a daily basis. The brand stands for collections with a long product life and a keen sense of the zeitgeist. In the company’s own sample-sewing department, designs are created that are realised through the interplay of creativity, precision craftsmanship and profound sustainability consciousness – following the motto of MAC #itsbettertogether.

Howis a pair of MAC trousers made?

Design, research & cut

In the beginning are the design and the development of high-fashion styles and perfect cuts.

Extraction of raw materials

Even the extraction of such raw materials as cotton, viscose or polyester can have amajor impact on people and the environment. We therefore use 100% sustainablecotton, for example.

Spinning, weaving

In the next step, yarns are produced from the extracted raw materials and woven into a textile fabric.

Dyeing

Next comes the dyeing process. Our producers do without any bleaching agents and observe the legal guidelines concerning the use of chemicals.

Production

In the subsequent process step – manufacture – MAC trousers are produced from the fabrics and such “ingredients” as hang-tags and labels, followed by finishing.

Logistics

After the production process, our trousers are transported to our logistics centre in Wald/Roßbach in the most eco-friendly way possible.

Quality control

Prior to shipping our products to trading partners or end consumers, we perform strict quality controls at our company headquarters in Wald/Roßbach.

Selling

Today our trousers are sold throughout the world via specialized retail shops, online and through social media. In shipping our products, we avoid using unnecessary packaging materials as much as possible.

Whereare MAC trousers produced?

MAC company headquarters, Wald/Roßbach
Weavingand spinning mills, dyeing works
Our spinning and weaving mills and dyeworks are in Turkey, Italy, Spain and Portugal.
Productionsites
Most of our trousers are produced inTurkey. We also produce in Poland, Italy, North Macedonia, Morocco and Tunisia. We are very proud that a small part of our trousers is still produced at ourcompany headquarters and can therefore carry the label “Made in Germany”.

Since our entire production takes place in Europe and neighbouring countries, oursupply chain is more resilient to disruptions in globally connected supplychains, which makes MAC a reliable partner for specialised retailers. Moreover, the short transport routes are easy on the environment. Compared to airfreightfrom Asia, CO2 emissions for transport are up to 98% lower at MAC.Compared to transport by sea freight, we achieve savings of 15%. Since we regularly visit our production sites and thanks to our long-standing,trust-based partnerships we are able to monitor adherence to social standardsmuch better and know how and under what conditions MAC trousers are produced. Our next project: MAC trousers that are entirely produced in Germany– “Made in Germany”, in other words!

MAC helps achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals
