MAC – A Beacon of Sustainable Fashion

The MAC Mode GmbH & Co. KGaA from Wald/Roßbach near Regensburg is setting new standards in sustainable fashion. With our innovative project “Circular Nettle Denim”, we have achieved double recognition – nominated for the prestigious German Ecodesign Award 2025 and finalist for the German Sustainability Award Products 2026.

Both awards are among the most respected honors for responsible design and sustainable transformation in Germany and even a nomination is considered a remarkable achievement.

“Circular Nettle Denim”: Innovation Meets Responsibility
The “Circular Nettle Denim” project embodies true circular economy in fashion. The jeans are made largely from resource-saving nettle fiber, can be returned via a take-back system, and are fully recyclable – a holistic approach that perfectly combines design, innovation, and ecological responsibility.

The jury of the German Ecodesign Award especially praised the project’s focus on the three key principles of circularity:
Reduce (resource-efficient nettle fiber),
Reuse (take-back system), and
Recycle (post-consumer recycling).

Double Recognition for Sustainable Fashion Made in Bavaria
The award ceremony for the German Ecodesign Award will take place on December 1, 2025, at the Federal Ministry for the Environment in Berlin, followed by the German Sustainability Award Products ceremony on December 4, 2025 in Düsseldorf.

With these two nominations, we once again positions ourselves as a pioneer of sustainable innovation in the fashion industry – proving that style, quality, and responsibility can go hand in hand.
